With the latest UEFA Champions League fixtures set in stone and football fans eagerly anticipating the draw for the new season which takes place this Friday in Monaco, one thing that has become clear is that there are some mouth-watering ties on the horizon.


First Knockout Round

The first knockout round of the Champions League is comprised of four two-legged ties that are played across two weeks. The first leg of each tie will be played on Tuesday October 23rd and Wednesday October 24th, and the second leg will be played over two days - Tuesday October 30th and Wednesday 31st. 

-The teams in the first knockout round are Manchester United (Pot 1), Borussia Dortmund (Pot 2), Ajax (Pot 3) and Galatasaray (Pot 4). 

-Manchester United will play their first leg at home against Ajax on Oct. 23rd with a rematch against them in Amsterdam on Oct. 30th; Borussia Dortmund will play their first leg at home against Galatasaray on Oct.


Second Knockout Round

The second knockout round is the turning point in the Champions League. The winners of each group will face off against each other, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals. The matchups are as follows:

Group A winner vs. Group B runner-up

Group C winner vs. Group D runner-up

Group E winner vs. Group F runner-up 

Group G winner vs. Group H runner-up 

Group I winner vs. Group J runner-up


Third Knockout Round

The third knockout round of the UEFA Champions League will be played on Tuesday October 26th. There are two games that will take place in the third knockout round. The first game is between Barcelona and Liverpool and the second game is between Tottenham and Ajax. The winners from these two matches will advance to the quarterfinals of this tournament.
