FIFA World Cup 2022: Brazil's 26-man squad revealed! Neymar and Jesus lead the line, but Firmino is left out.

Brazil has named their 26-man World Cup squad, with Neymar and Gabriel Jesus leading the line and Liverpool's Roberto Firmino missing out. Manchester City's Ederson was also left out of the squad, which sees the return of Dani Alves and Thiago Silva as well as Douglas Costa and Philippe Coutinho. Brazil faces Australia in Melbourne on 23rd June before they take on Argentina in Melbourne on 27th June at the MCG. The tournament then kicks off in earnest in September when Brazil faces Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia in Group E.

Neymar and Jesus lead the line

Neymar was one of the main players in the Brazilian team that won gold at Rio 2016. The PSG striker netted a brace in their semi-final victory over Germany and scored one goal in their final against Holland which they won 3-0. He will be joined by Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho, captain Thiago Silva, Paris Saint Germain defender Dani Alves and Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in Russia this summer

Jesus will make his debut for Brazil in Russia 2018 after being called up to replace injured Paris Saint Germain teammate Neymar Jr. Manchester City defender Danilo will also be present for his first international tournament with the national team.

Firmino axed from the squad

Roberto Firmino has been left out of Brazil's 26-man World Cup squad, despite being a regular for the national team since 2016. The Liverpool striker was omitted from Tite's final list for Russia 2018 after struggling to make an impact in his side's Champions League campaign this season.

Brazil's 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022

Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain F.C., Liverpool F.C.'s Roberto Firmino, Manchester City F.C.'s Gabriel Jesus, and Valencia CF's Rodrigo are in line to play for the Seleção at Qatar 2022.

5 players who could make an impact at the World Cup

Neymar (Paris Saint Germain) - The PSG forward has been in terrific form this season, scoring 17 times in 19 games for Les Parisiens including a hat-trick against Monaco last time out. He also scored four goals at the 2014 World Cup which included a stunning free-kick against Chile. Plus there was that delightful dink against Germany in 2014... He just needs to be on his game for Brazil to win it all again!

Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) - The Manchester City striker has already proven himself as one of the most talented players in world football with an assured finish and an eye for goal. His pacey style of play could pose problems for opponents who will be forced to keep their eyes on him at all times.

5 players who are on the fringe of the selection

There are at least five players who could be considered on the fringes of selection for this World Cup squad. But with seven outfielders, five defenders, and three goalkeepers included in Tite's squad list, it is unlikely that any new faces will be called up to join the group in Russia next month.

1) Richarlison - One of many young talents making waves on European shores at present, Richarlison has enjoyed a successful first season in England with Watford following his summer move from Brazilian club Fluminense. The 21-year-old can play as a striker or winger and has scored six goals in 23 league games so far this season as he looks to continue his meteoric rise up football's ranks.
