The second match in Group C on the FIFA World Cup 2022 match schedule has Argentina taking on Mexico at Al Rayyan Stadium in Qatar on Thursday, June 20th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time (8 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Pacific). While Argentina looked good in their 2-1 victory over Jamaica in their opening match, Mexico struggled to a 0-0 tie with South Africa despite dominating the majority of possession and shots on goal in that match.

One of the most intriguing matchups from this round of games is between Argentina and Mexico. This will be their first meeting since the 1986 World Cup quarterfinals when Diego Maradona's Hand of God goal knocked out El Tri in a 2-1 victory for La Albiceleste.

Argentina is coming into the game on a high after a recent 2-1 victory over Ecuador in Quito which secured their passage to the last 16 of the tournament and put them top of Group E with six points. The game against Ecuador was Lionel Messi's first game back from injury and he will be looking to continue his form against Mexico as he has been in fine form this World Cup so far, scoring four goals in three games so far. Some reports have suggested that Sergio Aguero could come into the side for Angel Di Maria but this is unconfirmed at the time of writing. 

Mexico is also going into the game on a high after defeating South Korea 2-0 with Hirving Lozano scoring both goals for El Tri.

This will be a very interesting game to watch for sure. Argentina is coming off a tough loss against France, so they will be eager to show their true colors and get another win on the board. They have an incredible midfield and attack with players like Messi and Di Maria and their defense has been solid so far as well. The only downside is that they are lacking in depth at the center back which could really cost them if they come up against any big strikers like the one Mexico has in Javier Hernandez or Carlos Vela who is also a threat from the wing. 

On the other side of this game, we have Mexico who has had some terrible luck early on in this tournament after losing 1-0 to defending champions Germany in what was a very close match between two evenly matched sides.
